This region of Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife sanctuary was under the forest for many ages, but it got the status of Wildlife sanctuary in the year 1993 under section 34 of State Government of Punjab Notification. Since then it has been reserved place for animals. Due to such significance, it is attracting many tourists across India as well as from abroad. It is one of the scenic places of Hoshiarpur displaying the marvelous features of hilly terrains and beautiful landscapes.

Takhani Rehmapur wildlife sanctuary is spread over the area of 956 acres in which some area is occupied by villages of tribes. Best Time to visit Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife Sanctuary

It is good to visit from starting of October month. Winter beginning from December is also appropriate time to arrive at Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife Sanctuary. Wild animals come out from their den to take heat from sun hence tourists are able to see them easily. This immaculate time lasts till the end of March from which harsh summer season get started. Due to blistering heat it is not good to visit this wildlife reserve because animals prefer to hide out in shades to escape the heat.

How to reach Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife Sanctuary

Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife sanctuary is easily reachable as it is situated approximately 20 km from the main city area. There are three roads which are roughly of same distance to approach this wildlife sanctuary. The shortest way is through Mehngrowal Hoshiarpur Road. Though it is short and 20 km long, but still is not preferred route for travelers as road is not up to the mark. Tourists mainly prefer State Highway 24 to reach this animal reserve. Buses and taxis are easily available from the city to arrive at Takhni Rehmapur Wildlife sanctuary.
